WE ARE HOMESTEADERS

_________

The homesteaders of the Illinois Valley live in a generationally impoverished region of southern Oregon, and through their resiliency have developed a wealth of earth skill knowledge between them.  Motherliners specialize in primitive survival skills and forest living, goat husbandry, cheese-making, permaculture gardening, miso fermentation, cyclical birth control and fertility awareness, storytelling, fiber arts and more.  Our selection of easy, 11 minute videos will answer your homestead questions and inspire you to try new endeavors, all by current practitioners of earth loving life and practices. We are currently developing a first offering of Homestead Help skill videos.  Sign up to hear about the release of our first Homestead Help videos, coming soon!

Frequently Asked Questions

+ How Much Does It Cost?

Participation in The Motherline is free, but we welcome and encourage donations.

________________

+ Can I Participate in the Motherline?

Yes! Weekly dance practice happens at Healthy U in Cave Junction, Oregon on Fridays from 10am-12pm, and all self identifying “mothers” are welcome.

+ What is the difference between the Motherline  & Motherground?

“The Motherline” refers to our organizing project in its entirety, in which we galvanize radical nature protection from mothers by connecting through meaningful weekly dance practice. This helps us heal, and moves us to be better protectors of our planet through all of our actions and social interactions. “The Motherground” is our inaugural film project, announcing our arrival as a band of rural, homesteading mothers determined to defend ourselves and our earth from further trespass and exploitation.

We believe rape culture is rape culture. Whether our own or the earth’s, our bodies are being violated. By healing ourselves, we move toward healing for the planet, understanding profoundly what self love and restoration look and feel like.

DONATE

Your tax deductible donation goes directly to program costs in the rurally isolated geographic region of the Illinois Valley in Josephine County, Oregon, where 100% of youth qualify for federal free and reduced lunch, and where addiction, abuse, and generational poverty threaten the health of our most vulnerable community members. We are making liberal arts education available to rural youth through inclusive dance, theatre and agriculture programs created to empower our community with the power to express themselves non violently, and the motivation to realize their potential as agents of improvement for our world.  These programs are rooted in planet protective practices, helping kids to gain earth healing skills as they develop themselves as artists and gardeners. Your donation has a real and lasting impact on the health of one of the most ecologically diverse regions in the world, and the people who live there!

FOR MORE INFORMATION

For the purposes of this project, "Mother" is defined as any person of any gender or age who possesses a deep need and calling to cultivate and nourish life, whether flora, fauna, or other human beings. Line does not only refer to bloodline, but an impenetrable force of will. "Motherline" then becomes a verb. "We are Motherlining...."
